National Iranian American Council

The National Iranian American Council (NIAC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, dedicated to advancing peace, diplomacy, and civil rights for the Iranian-American community. Operating since 2002, NIAC has developed comprehensive expertise in multiple critical areas affecting Iranian Americans, including immigration policy advocacy, civil rights protection, and international diplomacy initiatives. The organization works to ensure that decisions impacting the Iranian-American community are informed by community voices and priorities.

NIAC's work spans several interconnected focus areas. Through NIAC Action, the organization builds political power for Iranian Americans by advancing peace and diplomatic solutions, securing equitable immigration policies, and protecting the civil rights of all Americans. The organization maintains specialized resources including an ICE Detention Community Tracker for Iranian nationals, a Travel Ban and Immigrant Justice Resource Center, and a No War With Iran Action Hub providing up-to-date information and advocacy opportunities. NIAC's sister organization, the 501(c)(3) entity, concentrates on community education and engagement to further advance these priorities.

Serving Washington, DC and the broader national community, NIAC recognizes that Iranian Americans represent one of the most highly educated minority groups in the United States, with significant contributions across technological, scientific, academic, and economic sectors. The organization is committed to amplifying these contributions within American civic life while advocating for policies that protect community interests. NIAC maintains transparency as a recipient of the Candid Platinum Seal and operates independently, receiving no funding from U.S. or Iranian government sources.
